Nice accessories, except for the mic

The nicest accessory in the VXR100 kit is the handle, it has a bit of weight to it. I can't say the same about the microphone itself. Although the mic looks and feels nice, the mic connection is not well made. Plugging in the XLR is incredibly tight and difficult to unplug. My guess is the paint job along the sides is making it hard to plug in, but also the notch where the mic cable plugs in does not look right. I tested the mic with phantom power and couldn't get a loud enough signal. Switching to battery power improved and I could get a louder signal. In general it is not a high output mic, you will need lots of gain to get a good signal. I returned it because of the phantom power and mic connection issue. I might have a gotten a bad copy and the accessories are good if you are starting out. Kudos to the customer service, they reply very fast to your questions or concerns.
